The Werewolf Battle combines creative writing and strategy for engaging audiences in uniquely immersive storytelling. It is a turn-based interactive story using a 6-sided die to determine outcomes of attacks.
A writer crafts a compelling story prompt for two characters, including a custom battle arena. Writers for each character take turns attacking. The success of an attack is determined by rolling a 6-sided die.
The battle escalates with each unsuccessful attack, lowering the required roll for victory. A writer must roll a fatal strike to win the battle.
Example Battle: Jimothy Dyck vs. Werewolf
Attack 1: Werewolf attacks Jimothy
Writer for werewolf describes attack. Needs 6 to win. If success, werewolf wins battle. If not, Jimothy gets a turn to attack werewolf.
Attack 2: Jimothy attacks werewolf
Writer for Jimothy describes attack. Needs 5 or higher to win. If success, Jimothy wins battle. If not, werewolf gets a turn to attack Jimothy.
Werewolf Attacks Again
Needs 4 or higher to win.
Process Continues
The required roll decreases by one (need 3, then 2, and 1 to win battle).
Battle continues until a writer rolls the required number or higher to deliver a fatal strike. A fatal strike wins the battle.
The Werewolf Battle is about using limitations to inspire innovation. The rules of engagement challenge writers to think outside the box by transforming writing constraints into a shared adventure.
